In this example project we cover the complete design and build of the conservatory. In particular note that the conservatory company installed a cavity tray while building the conservatory. This is not something all conservatory suppliers do but it is something we recommend – especially in exposed locations.

Computer generated plans are prepared for the customer’s approval. Various options and styles can be computer generated and when the customer is satisfied with the design an order is placed. Prior to starting work on the site a thorough Final Survey is carried out by the company. At this time if it is deemed planning permission will be required then a planning application is made. |
Once all approvals have been obtained the suppliers Installation / Project manager visits the site. They are responsible for all activity on the building site. They will keep the customer informed of progress. |
Once the footings / foundations are dug they are filled with concrete and allowed to cure – usually for 3 or 4 days. |
Once the footings have cured the external walls are built up to DPC level on the footing. With the external walls in place a damp proof membrane is laid, concrete over-site is poured and the dwarf walls are constructed. Also at this time the cavity trays (above the line of the roof) are fitted. |
Cavity Trays prevent water from penetrating the interior of a conservatory. For a more detailed explanation of cavity trays please see this link: http://www.conservatoriesonline.com/topconstipsextra.htm
The conservatory framework now arrives on site. The windows and doors are installed and the conservatory starts to take shape. A sand and cement screed gives the floor a smooth finish in preparation for the fitting of utilities. Finally once the conservatory installers have completed the their part plumbers, electricians and plasters complete the project. Final checks are made by the Installation / Project manager prior to handover of the completed conservatory to the delighted customer.
The completed installation.
